Transcript of Lookbook from Marie Cunliffe (M.L.E. Design)

Marie Cunliffe

This collection is inspired by aerial imagery of the earth. It explores another viewpoint. The concept is based on an alternative perspective. This is shown through draped shapes contrasting with structural, heavy weight textiles. The earth’s contours, fluidity, textures and colour have been translated into print. Fabrics include coral crushed pleats and cobwebbed wool, with robust metal and plastic garments, which create soft silhouettes in unusual ways.

A key feature of this collection has been a satin-metal woven fabric, which has been introduced into clothing for the first time. The fabric can be sculpted, allowing for the designs to be moulded. The light reacts to the contours taken from the research imagery.

The relationship between the delicate and the durable creates unexpected results.
