B cells and T cells differ in their mechanisms of antigenrecognition. While B cells recognize the antigen by interactingwith the epitope on their own, T cells recognize the antigenonly when the epitope is “presented” by one of the specializedantigen-presenting cells.

Antigen-presenting cells (APCs) are a group of immune cells thatmediate the cellular immune response by processing and presentingantigens for recognition by certain lymphocytes such as T cells.

Classical APCs include dendritic cells, macrophages, and B cells.
