Tools and Resources to Support LBS Service Providers in Ontario
As part of the 2014/15 Service Delivery Network Development Fund (SDNDF) Common Assessment Training project, this list has been developed to showcase the many tools and resources available to support LBS practitioners and administrators in Ontario. These tools and resources have been developed by a variety of funding sources (i.e. SDNDF, Trillium, etc.), however they all support practitioners in the delivery of high quality, effective LBS programming that supports learners to achieve their goals.
Although there are a multitude of resources and tools available, the ones listed below are the most recent.
For a complete listing of the 2013/14 and 2014/15 funded Service Delivery Network Development Fund Projects, please click on the links below

Tools and Resources to Support LBS Service Providers in Ontario
The following list of Tools and Resources is not broken down by stream or sector. Many of the tools and resources that are developed can be used across all sectors and streams (in some cases) with some adaptation or modification (i.e. Anglophone stream resources can be adapted for Aboriginal programming with the addition of the cultural component. As well, Aboriginal resources can be used in Anglophone programming in the same way. The biggest challenge is the adaptation and/or translation for the Deaf and Francophone streams. they are all stream-specific resources that should be highlighted.
Deaf Stream resources - American Sign Language - developed/adapted through 2013/14 SDNDF projects and earlier projects – for more information please visit Deaf Literacy Initiatives website – www.deafliteracy.ca
- Bridging to Deaf Success – can be used across streams and has been adapted from “Signposts”. It is an easy to use resource for learners whose goal is employment
- Deaf CAMERA (Communications and Math Employment Readiness Assessment) – used to assess learners’ skill levels/strengths in reading, writing, document use, and numeracy
- Learners’ Workbooks and Practitioners’ Guides – workforce and workplace literacy resources – addressing the need for accurate and current learning materials for learners seeking to improve their employment and literacy skills
- E-Learning Modules – Online Practitioner training

Creating Pathways to Learning Supports for EO Clients with Learning Disabilities ProjectAn intensive research project, aiming to provide practitioners in Ontario with foundational information and guidance necessary to improving service delivery to EO Clients with LDs. This project lays the foundation for developing further supports and strategies to assist this vulnerable client group with meeting goals and succeeding within the EO framework of services. These findings will be shared with service providers through two key deliverables:
- A Literature Review and Environmental Scan of currently available supports, interventions and accommodations in Ontario, reviewing client needs/gaps and practitioner strategies to identify and support clients with LDs in the classroom and with intake, assessment accommodation and referrals.
- A Reference Guide of Current Best Practices and Supportive Interventions for Clients with Learning Disabilities.
