What is a marathon?• Marathon is a long run.

• People run them as a challenge, to raise money for charity or sometimes just for fun (crazy people!).

• You can have a full marathon which is 26 miles or a half marathon which is obviously 13 miles.

• In our country they normally take place in big cities such as London, Newcastle and Sheffield or are featured at big sporting events like the Olympics.
