Need of increased attention

- Old Indian standard ( 1989 – 2015) for lightning protection

was not very comprehensive and hence rarely customers

were serious about good lightning protection system (LPS) .

- New Indian Standard ( since Aug 2015) is very comprehensive

and hence Indian industries need up-gradation in order to

comply with new Indian standard.

- Up-gradation for existing plants / Compliance with new

standard for new plants - - both needs additional engineering

measures and financial investments.

- As per the new Standard, up to 99% risk can be mitigated by

installation and maintenance of LEVEL-1 LPS.
