THE JOURNEY
Sowmya Nikhil
The thudding of thoughts through an unsullied mind
The clamoring steps towards an eternal journey
The clapping of hands in unison to the eternal joy
The pang of your soul to quench its spiritual thirst
The beating of your heart in tune with your in dweller
Te endless smile when you sense the Lord
The pitter- patter of the tumultuous tears which fall freely
The sweet expansive smell of the divine
The expansion of your aura when you merge with HIM
The bliss of nothingness ...where you become Iand I become I AM
Heralds the journey from you to Me.

. Spirituality and its NecessityAadhi Arunachala Siddhar
(Guruji Sri K.V.Naryanan - Disciple of Gurunathar Tirumular)
It has always been in man’s nature to seek. He is always
a result of this seeking nature the world has seen many

adoration of the Supreme Power came into vogue.Today the search is better organized through various
spiritual organizations but still there is a lot of confusion and even suffering due to misinterpretation of what was taught. This is only natural because whenever there is a congregation there is bound to be differences of opinion. People forget that the Supreme is one and the same and
that one religion is superior to the other leads to unpleasant

More and more people take to spirituality for the sake of peace which it brings. Today’s world is so full of stress and strain and they feel the need to distress They feel that in spite of all the comforts that modern living confers there is still something missing from their lives. Gradually it dawns on that they are not at peace. They seek by resorting to
and ashrams and so on. Some of them experience a stirring in their souls and experience a glimpse of the real peace which they direly need.
The preceptors of yore and now offer many methods for the seekers and ask them to choose one of the methods which they feel most comfortable with. Some successfully
reasons for success or failure depend on one’s inherent
person. It therefore follows that a seeker should develop certain
traits and behavior and discard some traits and faults to

for the Turth it is important to become a good human being. One should consider the feelings and needs of
achieve any degree of success. This is the basic level of all teachings. ‘Do unto others as you would others to do unto you”. If you desire that others respect you and yourf feelings it is necessary to give respect to others and their feelings. Be considerate to others and remember that being considerate is not a sign of weakness. On the contrary it is a sign of strength.
Anger is another trait which is to be avoided. Agreed it is not easy to remain without anger at all times but the effort to remain calm and unperturbed should be there at all times. An angry person loses his sense of judgment. Anger is a result of expectation and at most times stems from a false sense of hurt. Seeing a problem or situation from the viewpoint of others often results in a clearer understanding of human nature. One should desist from expecting anything from others.
Humility is another desired trait which one should
Supreme and that you are not superior to anyone else. Everyone has their plus and minus points. It is good to remember that life is a learning process and the more you observe and listen the faster the progress will be. Life is a great teacher. Experiences good and bad are meant to give you a better perspective of people and happenings. Learn to shed your ego and feelings of superiority. Where would you be if people who do menial jobs are non-existent? The

part and parcel of God’s creation. Do not demean them or think yourself as superior.
Beauty is only skin deep; youth and looks are transitory. The old people we see were young once. The body and looks will fade with age. The changes will take place because time is a great leveler. Nothing is permanent except change.
Learn to develop faith. This is not easy. We do not
in His creation. Look around you and see the beauty
in front of all these. Think of the One who created all these and your faith in Him and His grace will increase by leaps and bounds.
Another important factor is regularity in our spiritual practices. Try to practice at the same time and if possible the same place. This is necessary until one develops the capacity to be able to meditate anywhere and at any time. We feel hungry at the same time everyday because the physical body is used to satisfying its hunger at times
us. This will provide the basics for expansion of meditation or sadhana into one continuous stream directed towards the Supreme One. One has to be aware of the spirit at all times. Our spirit is only a fragment of the supreme spirit. So be aware of the Supreme at all times.

meaning. What I am able to access here is just a little deeper than the literary meaning. I implore Shakti Swamigal to elaborate on the deeper meaning of these verses at an appropriate time.
At another level these verses denote deepest level of bhakti. They connote a sense of surrender to the divine.
Adi Shankara closes Bhaja Govindam with a verse that says:
The hapless devotee surrenders at the feet of the MasterReleased from bondage of lifeWith senses restrainedSees the Divine in his heart
Each verse of Thirumanthiram echoes this feeling of unconditional acceptance and surrender enabling the discerning reader to access that Divine Atma Guru in one’s heart.
