6 a.m. City crews begin working on projects pertaining to the flood

and continue to work to on projects today (8/6/13).

11:30 a.m. State of Emergency declared.

12:30 p.m. Staff from various departments meet at City Hall (Emergency Operations Center for Hickory) to gather information, form a plan of action, and execute the plan.

1 – 8:30 p.m. The EOC remains open Staff keeps up with what all departments are doing, updates the Mayor and Council, stays in contact with Catawba County EOC, as well as Conover and Newton, sends media releases and answers media questions, updates Hickory’s website

departments, updates the Mayor and Council, as well as the media.

July 29-31Let citizens know how to report flood damage as well as continue to solve problems and connecting with fellow agencies.
