IaaS, Managed Deployments, Subscription
ADMINISTRATION
SUBSCRIPTION
Step 1: IaaS - Remove Capitial Expense; Operating Expense
▪ Leverage on-premise private cloud style deployments in off-premise
private clouds
Step 2: Train Distributors and customers to host off-premise
▪ Removes delays in hardware acquisition
▪ Removes delays in training admin expertise
▪ Reduce costs by having experts “run” the deployment;
install patches;
upgrade to new versions
Step 3: Remove up-front license costs
▪ Add support for subscription licensing

Why SaaS?
In a nutshell, customers of all sizes are
looking for the following benefits…
• Lower Total Cost of Ownership
• Always on at scale
• Easy access to latest functionality
• Better collaboration
• Productivity anywhere
As enterprise businesses looking for agility
and reduced spending on IT, Siemens has
the opportunity to capture additional revenue
through SaaS
Does imply a significant business investment
and transformation

Cloud First requires R&D transformation
• Deployment automation
• Multi-region deployments
• Automated Backup/Recovery
• Disaster recovery strategy
• Cloud Security layers (Boundary,
patching, security monitoring/alerts)
• Security Automation and Testing
• High availability (no single point of failure)
• Network architecture, active directory
joins, Siemens PL Naming standards, etc.
• Procedures for access and support
defined
• Product support organization ready to
provide cloud support
• Enablement materials for sales, services
developed
• Full SDLC - leveraging automated CI/CD
• Supports scalable database technologies
• Application is stateless (session
information stored externally)
• Standard API access points for all
services (CLI, Portal) with documentation
• Supports a single version deployment
(upgrades are incremental, rapid,
scalable)
• Overarching Structure to ensure
standards and allow individual team agility
• Multi-tenant
• Scalability
• Zero footprint client
• Supports automation of tenant lifecycle
and other processes
• Meets Siemens cloud deployment,
patching and upgrade requirements
• Supports health check monitors
• Supports customization through UI-driven
configuration
• Required integrations HTTPS/SFTP
• No dependency on server access to local
devices (ex printers)
• Supports auto-scaling
• Security and Infrastructure automation
(DevSecOps)

Cloud Delivery to Facilitate Customer Feedback
Though we don’t have plans to force existing customers to the Cloud, we do play
to offer opportunities for you to give us feedback on software currently under
construction
Intern © Siemens AG 2017
2017.07.28Page 17 Siemens PLM Software
Early Customer Involvement versus “Beta”
Beta Software Characteristics
• Software is prepared and “posted”
• Requires Install manuals
• Requires Install TDOC, etc.
• Upgrade has to work
• Customers download the software
• Need to identify and allocate servers
• Need to allocate IT staff to install & configure
This is a big burden upon the customer, and you are
asking them to spend significant resources to use a
Beta release with lots of IT hurdles
ECI Characteristics
• No software posted for download
• All server management done by Siemens
• All software loaded on AWS for global access
• Clients should be “zero install” browser based
• No applets; no plug-ins
• All data / upgrade challenges are “ours”
ECI involvement can go viral, because:
• Anyone can login that we invite
• No IT burdens
• No bureaucracy
• Globally accessible

ECI Program
Overview
Test drive working increments on a Siemens PL hosted cloud environment
and provide feedback
• Login and test drive new capabilities as they are developed
• Attend Design & Innovation workshops and collaborate on future capabilities
• Give feedback/suggestions for improvement directly to product management
Purpose:
• Help ensure the software is “fit for use”
• Provide guidance for future releases
• Help prioritize functionalities
Requirements:
• Time Commitment – 3-4 hours a month per user
• HTML5 Capable Browser (Versions TBD)
Intern © Siemens AG 2017
2017.07.28Page 19 Siemens PLM Software
SIT UA DM ECI Program
Put a build of UA DM on the Cloud every month (the best one available)
Requires “real data” in the deployment
• Even though the primary driver is to get feedback from existing customers,
there are other drivers:
• Pre-sales can leverage with key prospects
• Gives anyone that want to have 24x7 access to UA DM

Manufacturing Intelligence
Top visibility and overall performance
• Manufacturing Analytical Model
based on industry standards
• Manufacturing Analytical Model
can be extended with custom
attributes and/or custom entities
• Data sources integration is
automatically managed. No
custom implementations are
required for data ingestion.
• SIMATIC IT and SIMATIC IT UA
as first step
• Oracle\MS SQL Server\ODBC as
first third party sources
Challenges:
▪ Get value from huge quantities of plant
data
▪ Analyze and compare data coming from
different systems
▪ Integrate plant data with corporate data
▪ Enhance visibility across company’s data
Benefit:
Plant data of legacy systems and MOM solution can be combined in a
“single point of truth” providing users with a different and more
complete perspective of operations regardless of where the data is
originated.
