School-based ASSESSMENT•No weighted assessment throughout the year

• School will ensure that the teachers continue to uphold the standard of teaching & learning

•Milestone checks through different forms of assessment modes with feedback on children’s learning will be given to parents

School-based ASSESSMENT•Parents will receive a Semestral report on the students’ attainment of the selected Learning Outcomes (LO) for the various subjects

School-based ASSESSMENTEL & MT LANGUAGES•Various assessment modes will be used to determine students’ attainment of the language skills: Reading, Listening, Speaking & Writing

•Parents can refer to the textbook for MT and Unit Overview of Stellar WS for EL for the items the students are learning

•Awarded based on qualitative judgement of a student’s learning disposition

Key POINTS

Edusave Merit Bursary • Consistently demonstrates positive learning

disposition in the course of the year,

• Singapore citizen

• demonstrated good conduct, and • monthly household income does not exceed

$6,900 (or per capita income does not exceed

$1,725).

Edusave Good Progress Award • Do NOT quality for EMB but showed the

greatest improvement in learning disposition in the course of the year

• Singapore citizen, and

• demonstrated good conduct

Level HIGHLIGHTS

P1 TOUCH TYPING• P1 students with learn basic touch typing skills to

enable students to use the keyboard effectively.

• The school is using TypingClub.com website to

support the implementation of this programme.

• The students will complete selected lessons in

school during PAL, English & Math periods.

• Students will also be required to complete some of

the lessons at home on their own.

• Support from parents to allow the children to access

the site at home to complete their lessons and do

additional practices.

• Use a computer to complete the activities to

familiarise himself/herself with the positioning of the

keys on a keyboard.

P1 TOUCH TYPING

• Touch Typing booklet with instructions will be issued

to all students to track their progress. The booklets

will be collected in Term 3 Week 1.

• A certificate will be issued to your child if he/she

submits the completed booklet, completes the

required 8 lessons and a mystery gift will be issued if

he/she completes more than half of the additional

lessons.

A gentle reminder:

• Do not add in parents’ email account

• Do not change password for any of the accounts

• Not to click on unnecessary buttons as it may

accidentally reset all progress

• School will do the necessary checks of booklets

against the online platform prior to issuing certificate

/ gift.

Tips for PARENTS•Provide your child a balanced lifestyle –exercise and recreation time should also be factored in his/her daily schedule.

•Do ensure your child have enough sleep

•Manage the amount of time your child spends on mobile devices such as tablets & phones to play game or watching video • Not more than 1 hour daily with breaks every 30

min

Tips for PARENTS•Communicate with your child not just about school work but also about other aspects of his/her life

•Set high but realistic and positive target for and with your child

•Create a routine to enable you and your child manage & monitor his work

•Allow your child to take up the responsibility for his/her own learning with your guidance

Tips for PARENTS•Allow for delay gratification to build intrinsic motivation in the children

•Praise your child for hard work, perseverance, responsibility, effort that counts for improvement, showing kindness & graciousness

• Take authority over your children’s life & role model behaviour & actions that you want them to develop

Working with YOU•Update us on what is happening to your child at home so that we can provide the necessary support

•We will do our best to support your child academically and where possible emotionally and would appreciate your support and understanding

•Be consistent in our messaging
