My name is Haki and I live in Kenya. Read about a typical day in my life.

After lunch some of the children go home, but I stay until 4pm. My favourite subject is geography because I like to learn about all the countries in the world.

When I get home I have to collect the water for my family to cook and clean with. Then I get to play football with my friends. My bedtime is 7:30pm. I sleep in the same room as my family.

Normally I get up at 5:30am to get ready for school. I wash and put on my school uniform. Then I eat uji, which is a thin porridge.

Before I go to school, my mum checks I look smart. It takes me around 45 minutes to walk to school with my friends.

I get to school at 7:15am. There are 30 children in my class. We have to arrive before the teachers so we are organised for the day. At 8am we pray and sing then we start our maths lesson.

At break times and lunch times I love to play football. Lunch time is 12:45pm. My favourite lunch to have is ugali which is a cornmeal ball I dip in vegetable stew. My lunch is provided by my school and it is the biggest meal I have each day.
