CONFIRMATION

The Sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of Baptismal grace. In this Sacrament

we receive gifts from the Holy Spirit in order to help us live out our witness to Jesus Christ!

“WE BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT”

■BUT, WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?

■ The Holy Spirit is God, just as Jesus and God the Father are God.

■ The Holy Spirit knows everything, has all power, is everywhere at the same time, and has no beginning

and no end.

■ The Holy Spirit has the power and knowledge to help us at any place and any time we need His help.

■ We can go to Him for strength, wisdom,

and guidance.

■ He can help us live for God. The Holy Spirit teaches us and reminds us

what God has said to us.

BACKGROUNDAfter Jesus’ Resurrection, Jesus sent his

Apostles to preach in His name and to baptize those who believed in Him

But they were afraid!

JESUS PROMISED

■ Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to help and guide them. The Holy Spirit would change their lives. Jesus promised:

■ “you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout the Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”
