LEARNING JOURNEYS – CRAFTING ADAPTIVE COURSES

Presented by Lindy Klein at iMoot11www.lindyklein.com – explore the possibilities

WHY ADAPTIVE COURSES?

Because we can!

TRY THIS QUICK QUIZ...

Must all quizzes have wrong answers?

PERCENTILE BANDS

How can we use quiz results to stream our students?

RELEASE THE ACTIVITIES!

Using criteria release mode, we can take the results of our quiz, and turn them into an adaptive tool!

CRAFTING THE QUIZ

What are some of the considerations in creating the first diagnostic quiz?

CRAFTING THE QUIZ

What are you trying to categorise?Eg. Experience, interest, hair colour??

CRAFTING THE QUIZ

How will you evaluate for the categories?

Will students use their opinions (and is this an accurate reflection of appropriate category?)

ADAPTING THE ACTIVITIES

Conditional activities, or criteria-release, allows us to take the percentage grade from the initial quiz and restrict or allow access to activities based on that mark.

STREAMING WITHOUT SEPARATING

Especially in this course, community building is considered paramount!

A learner can remain part of the class community regardless of the stream they’re in, with the activities relevant to them showing as they progress

THINGS WE’RE STILL WRESTLING WITH... Topic selective release Student visibility of gradebook Perception of additional workload
