    A committed humanitarian who has lived and worked insome of the world’s most challenging situations, GarethOwen OBE has led responses to numerous emergenciesall over the globe including the Boxing Day Tsunami,Pakistan and Haiti earthquakes, Cyclone Nargis inMyanmar, East Africa and Niger food crises and theSomalia, Angola, Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan and Syriaconflicts. Today, he leads a team of 190+ humanitarianprofessionals and in June 2013 he was awarded the OBEfor ‘services to Emergency Crisis Response Abroad’.

    Iruri Knörr has founded several start-ups includingNolatan, a network of specialized online stores & Basoa, abrand that designs, manufactures and sells woodaccessories and natural materials. She uses herexperience and know-how to help other companies andbrands with the formulation of strategies in the area of e-commerce. She writes for newspapers and magazines,and is a regular contributor to several radio programmes.She teaches in different Business Schools and Chambersof Commerce.

    The colon, rectum, stomach and gallbladder were takenaway from Juan Dual before the age of 28, which madehim re-evaluate his life. He took his bike to travelNicaragua-Patagonia, and started running marathonsand long trails to challenge himself, inspiring thousandsof people on his way. He founded Runnife, anassociation to raise awareness and funds to help peoplewith cancer. In 2018 his adventures will take him to theAntarctic, Costa Rica, Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Scotland.His motto: “No lo pienses” or “Just do it”!

    Nicolás Alcalá was appointed ‘Global Shaper’ by the WorldEconomic Forum after having directed and launched thefilm “The Cosmonaut”, a crowdfunding project involvingmore than 200 people. In 2015 he founded FutureLighthouse, a Virtual Reality (VR) studio with offices inMadrid and Los Angeles, one of the world’s leading VRStudios and winner of numerous awards. He nowcontinues to explore his leadership curating blindfoldeddinner experiences around the world and discoveringhimself as a Chef!

    We believe in challenging the status quo and the power of people. That is why in theseevents, we engage audiences in conversations and reflections with leaders from differentfields. In a series of international events, the Leadership Stories are coming to Viennathis April, Bilbao in May -in cooperation with Deusto Business Alumni-, and London inJune.
