Why should you learn about the layers of the rainforest?
The rainforest is a beautiful and mysterious ecosystem.
There is a lot that we do not know about rainforests.
But we do know about the layers and the difference between each layer, therefore giving you information on a very mysterious topic.
To be involved with learning the rainforest layers click the “next” button.
Layers of the Rainforest• There are 4 layers of the rainforest• Each layer corresponds with a designated height
Layers of the Rainforest • Each layer has special characteristics
• Each layer is different for the surrounding layers
• Each layer depends on the different aspects of
other layers
• For example, animals need to eat plants and
other animals from different layers than the one
they normally live in.
Layers of the Rainforest• Do you remember last week when we measured
the heights of all the students in the class?
Layers of the Rainforest
• The layers of the rainforest can be seen by the difference in the heights of our own class!

Forest Floor-FionaSoil Layer
• The forest floor is the bottom layer of the rainforest
• The large animals that cannot leave the ground are considered part of this layer.
• For example:Elephants Jaguars
Forest Floor-FionaSoil Layer
• Only 2% of sunlight reaches
the forest floor because of all
the trees• The forest floor is warm and
humid with a lot of fungi
• Decaying plant and animal
matter is common to the floor
