Partnership Project
Phase One – Targeted Properties: Vacant Storefronts and Code Enforcement Concerns
The Project is Two-Fold
• Vacant Storefronts
• Code Enforcement Concerns
The Project will be broken down into two
main categories:
These may overlap at times, which we’ll work through and
coordinate with appropriate staff via proactive and responsive
communication by and between LBA Executive Committee and
City of Covington staff.
Goals & Strategies
Goals: • Identify Property Owners in order to:
– Share incentive information;
– Inspire them to improve appearance and activate vacant commercial spaces;
• Market Properties via Xceligent Program on City’s website;
• Accurately represent vacant commercial space inventory to potential businesses;
Strategies: • Same-styled posters in all vacant storefronts with:
– Property data (square footage, rent, utility, lease info)
– Demographic data
– Applicable incentive information with City contact info
• LBA and City logos on posters will identify project partners.

Goals: • Abatement of Code Enforcement Issues • Improve Appearance of Latonia / streetscape /properties as would be
seen by potential businesses travelling through the area. • Clean up litter and other unsightly items on private properties. • Present best possible aesthetic appearance of Latonia as a whole.
Strategies: • Identify top priority properties that we will stay on ‘the list’ until
they’ve achieved the full resolution desired by the LBA/Business District’s interests;
• Keep an ongoing rapport with City’s Code Enforcement Team with monthly reporting on ‘the list’ properties to monitor progress;
• Identify next steps as we make progress along the way; • As success is achieved and a property drops off ‘the list’, a new one
can come on.
