MILLIONS OF YEARS IN THE MAKING
— FROM THE HEART
OF THE LAKE DISTRICT
WHATEVER THE SCALE OF YOUR VISION OR PROJECT, YOU CAN TRUST BURLINGTON STONE TO TRULY INSPIRE YOU.
Pure Lakeland water, volcanic ash, natural weathering and mineral processes have slowly formed Burlington Stone, lending it unique technical and aesthetic properties. It has been formed deep within the Cumbrian Mountains – so it’s dramatic, beautiful and made to last. Incredible flexural strength and low water absorption mean it’s robust, colour fast and easy to clean and maintain.
For almost two centuries, Burlington has been the stone of choice for bespoke and distinctive landscapes. Its intrinsic qualities and colours have been used to inspire iconic designs, to seamlessly connect homes to their environment, and to bring landscapes to natural life.
This ancient stone can be worked in a variety of finishes, from rough-hewn to smooth, and with a stunning range of natural colours and markings it is timelessly stylish, but also endlessly practical.
It’s made in Britain, so whatever the style and weather, it complements your design – formal and informal, contemporary or classic, whether you choose from our dimensional paving, tumbled stone setts, decorative aggregates or bespoke features.
However you choose to use Burlington Stone, you can be sure you’ll be inspired by six generations of craftmanship and by the outstanding technical properties of this premium stone product, backed up with the service you’d expect from a quality accredited, British, family company established in 1843.
Burlington Stone represents both a statement and an investment for today and the future.

WE BRING 450 MILLION YEARS OF BRITISH GEOLOGY AND 175 YEARS OF QUALITY BRITISH CRAFTMANSHIP RIGHT INTO THE HEART OF YOUR PROJECT.
Hidden within Burlington Stone lies its true beauty waiting to be revealed. Distinctive colour and unique natural markings provide rich detail and sensitive tones; nature’s signature displayed within each newly opened piece of stone.
Burlington Stone isn’t simply quarried. It’s lovingly crafted using a mix of time honoured techniques and cutting-edge technology. We treat the stone with respect, and it shows within the quality of our work. Carefully removed from its environment and carried a short distance to our workshops in Cumbria, our team of stone engineers and specialists then set to work.
Traditional skills, passed on through six generations of exceptional British craftsmen, alongside state-of-the art laser cutting and modern production techniques, ensure attention to detail and allow the natural beauty and provenance of the stone to be brought to life.
Burlington is committed to undertaking best practices to ensure the highest environmental standards are achieved. We hold ISO 14001 environmental accreditation and independent technical assessment highlights the longevity and durability of the stone and substantiates its claim to being a long term sustainable solution for your project.
This is British material, shaped by the British landscape and by British specialists, so what could be a more natural or beautiful choice of inspiration for your landscaping ideas?

Won from our quarries in Cumbria and The Lake District, the Burlington range of British natural stones are unmatched in their technical performance and aesthetic appearance.
330 million years old, Baycliff Cumbrian Limestone is a neutral, buff coloured Carboniferous limestone quarried on the outskirts of the historic market town of Ulverston.
Characterised by unique and beautiful volcanic ash veining, Westmorland Green Slate is quarried from the 475 million year old Borrowdale Volcanic Group of mountains that form the heart of the Lake District.
Cumbrian Black Slate is a dramatic Blue/Black stone with fine golden threads quarried from the 425 million year old mountains of the Windermere Super Group.
These three stunning stones offer the opportunity to create natural landscapes of beauty, quality and permanence whether used on their own or together; all that is required is your vision and imagination…….
