The 22 sculptures were built in 1968 by artists around the world for the Olympiad Mexico 68. From the need to relocate the sculptures of the Path of Friendship due to construction work of the South-ern Urban Highway, the Board

of the Ruta de la Amistad, AC, invited LAAP to generate ecolog-ical restoration projects to replace the degraded urban environment. The idea is to rescue not just the sculptures, but its surrounding en-vironment and original landscape. Exotic vegetation that blocked the

view of the sculptural elements were removed. Native plants were reintroduced to accelerate the pro-cess of restoration on the basaltic mantle. The project helps to form a biodiversity corridor south of the Cd. De Mexico.
