IT IS IN THE MIDDLE OF ANATOLIA AND HAS GOT MANY HISTORICAL PLACES SUCH AS MEVLANA MUSEUM. KONYA IS FAMOUS WITH ITS MEVLANA. MEVLANA JELALEDDIN RUMI IS AN OUTSTANDING SCHOLAR AND A PHILOSOPHER WHO HAS BEEN INFLUENCING THE WHOLE WORLD FOR CENTURIES.

He is very much known as whirling dervish in all over the world.

2007 was announced as Mevlana year by the UNESCO.
