Pilot Plant Centrifuge Applications Different types of centrifuges with variable basket diameters offer the
Operator a wide variety solutions for Pilot applications
Heinkel Pilot Plant centrifuges are designed to be flexible according to production and installation requirements in Pilot Plant Labs
Centrifuges with small basket diameters are mainly used in Kilo Labs and small production facilities
HEINKEL fulfils the strict requirements regarding equipment quality, acceptance tests and documentation for Pilot Plant machines
HEINKEL Pilot Plant centrifuge technology is ideal for Product Transfer through out the development phase

Over-Flow Solid-BowlApplication:
• Clarifying of liquids if solids fraction tends to settle quickly
Process requirement:• The s.g. of the solids must be higher than the s.g. of the liquid
Steps:• Slurry is fed into the bowl
• The products slowly flows down inside feed cone & migrates across bottom of basket and up the sides
• Solids can be removed manually – or - back flushed
Sedimentation Basket
•Application: Clarifying of liquids• Processes that require longer spinning
times compared to Overflow Basket are required or if solids concentration in the feed is high.
• Process Requirement and Functionality are similar to Overflow Basket
•Intended for longer spin-times
Skimming Tube Solid-Bowl
Application:• Separation of two liquids with different s.g. in a continuous process
Steps:• Feed enters bowl via ditribution cone.
• The liquid with the higher s.g. is skimmed with the upper skimming pipe.
• The liquid with the lower s.g. is skimmed with the lower skimming pipe.

What is PAC?PAC stands for Pressure Added Centrifugation. This system allows the Heinkel Inverting Filter
Centrifuge to further dewater and even dry products in the bowl of the centrifuge by introducing pressure up to <6-bar before the solids are discharged - while still under rotation.

PAC® also Improves Cake Consistency
Before PAC – Paste Like After Pac – Solid Product
► Difficult-to-filter products can be dewatered►Products will not stick to the Solids Housing► No cannon-balling in dryers
6 bar
PAC can also improve the cakeconsistency, e.g. thyrotrophiccakes, which may stick onthe Solids Housing.
Pressure-Added-Centrifugation(PAC) to pre-dry the filter cake. Will avoid problems coming From discharging a “wet” cake.
.Test with standard centrifugation (no PAC !!) LOD > 55 % LOD
Wet and Sticky Products = Product Loss
Test with Pressure Added Centrifugation: LOD = 20%
Surface Moisture Removed = Higher Throughput and Profitability (minimal product loss)

► PAC reduces significantly the residual moisture! ► Inverting Filter Centrifuges is the only type which
can operate with pressure centrifugation!
