OUR MAJOR FUNDRAISER FOR THIS YEAR
IS OUR UPCOMING HYPNOTIST EVENING
Please get the word out that we have an amazing fundraising night coming up - Dave Upfold, a comedy stage Hypnotist at the Balclutha
Town Hall. Please come along and support your kindergarten, and also sell tickets to family, friends, work colleagues etc. Jolene and the kindergarten fundraising team have been working extremely hard in
ensuring this night is a financial success. Remember, YOUR CHILDREN will benefit from the profits made, so there is an expectation that all families contribute in some way to the evening, whether it be selling
tickets, attending yourself, helping out on the day to make supper, and of course we will need lots of helpers on the night. Please see Jolene if
you can help out in any way
CHANGES TO HOURS AND STRUCTURE OF THE DAY
You will have received a letter from the Kindergarten Association outlining structural changes to our kindergarten day starting next term, and the reasons for this. Please return the form stating your desired times and hours by THIS FRIDAY 21st AUGUST so we can finalize changes to our sessions and times.
Kindergarten session times
Morning session: 8:30 am to 12:45pm Afternoon session: 12:45pm to 3:15pm
Full day session: 8:30am to 3:15
Please make every effort to be on time. The Association will now be charging a late
fee for repeated lateness as regularly arriving early or late affects our child ratios
and funding.
If you would like extra sessions please see Jolene as we have some time slots available.

Important
Please make sure when you leave
Kindergarten that you only let
your child/children out the gate,
and that you close the gate after
you, as we are having trouble with
them freezing up in the cold
weather.
My Lunch Box
Just a wee reminder to please put enough healthy items in your child’s lunch box to last your child for the whole day. Maybe 5-6 separate items, as they eat 2 for morning tea, then lunch and then 2 more for afternoon. Thank you.
Special visitor to kindergarten.
We had a special visitor from St John come to kindy, Amby the ambulance and Jan, St John
officer. Jan told us all about what is in an ambulance and how they can help
us if we need them.
Winter IS HERE
Please make sure your child comes to Kindergarten with a jacket for the
colder weather. Also make sure that they have plenty of changes of clothes in their bag for when
accidents happen. It can be slippery outside when it is wet.
If you have any Kindergarten underwear or other clothes at home please return these as
soon as possible. Thank you.

ILLNESSES IN OUR KINDERGARTEN
We as a teaching team want to do our utmost to try and keep EVERYONE as healthy as we can, BUT to do this we need parents to follow guidelines
set out from the District Health Board.
Keep your child at home if they: Have signs of being unwell ie. Grizzly, Unsettled, listless or tired. Have a high temperature or appears very hot. Are complaining of, or appears to have a sore tummy, throat or ears. Have a continuous cough. Have had diarrhea and vomiting within the last 48 hours. Have weeping, red eyes and/ or a yellow discharge around the eyes. Have broken skin sores. Have become ill with a communicable disease eg. Measles, mumps or
chickenpox. Have green or yellow mucus coming from their nose. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT IF YOUR CHILD EXPERIENCES VOMITING OR DIARRHOEA OUR POLICY IS THEY MUST REMAIN AT HOME FOR 48 HOURS AFTER THEIR LAST BOUT. THIS IS TO STOP THE SPREAD OF ILLNESS AS WELL AS TO ENSURE YOUR CHILD IS 100% BEFORE RETURNING TO KINDERGARTEN - unwell children don’t learn !!
Old CD’s and nuts ‘n’ bolts
We are on the hunt for any old CD’s you may have at home for an upcoming project in our technology room. We also need any old nuts
‘n’ bolts, screws, washers, small pieces of wire, paper clips, and other small “junk” items you
may have. Thank you.
