LTE Advanced

Long Term Evolution Advanced is the project name ofa new high performance air interface for cellularmobile communication systems.

Considered as the last stage towards the 4thgeneration of radio technologies.

The LTE specification provides downlink peak rates ofat least 100 Mbps, an uplink of at least 50 Mbps.

The main advantages with LTE are high throughput,low latency, plug and play, FDD and TDD in the sameplatform, an improved end-user experience and asimple architecture resulting in low operating costs.

WiMAX stands for Worldwide Interoperability forMicrowave Access isa telecommunication technology that provideswireless transmission of data using a variety oftransmission modes.

This is used for point to multipoint links to portable andfully mobile internet access.

WiMAX is a long range system, covering manykilometers that uses licensed or unlicensed spectrumto deliver a point-to-point connection to the Internet.

The key behind its success are the availability of low-cost chipsets and silicon implementations andspectral efficiency.
