Danger – curatorial project

Thoughts on the upcoming curatorial project:

The identities of local people should feature in our creations. A possible way of doing this might be to make a short film about resident’s thoughts on where they live.

This should include local history, both real and imagined.

The result would be a film celebrating the history of the area as experienced by its residents. And perhaps an anecdotal map?

We could approach local clubs and organisations to gather stories and invite them to events.

There is a library, pool league, several churches, a basketball club and an Age UK friendship centre all within a few minutes of the Mapalim offices!

Any workshops or events during the month long exhibition could be a way of collating people’s stories and interviewing them on camera, if they were happy to do so.

Events could include:

Knitting clubsTea danceLive brass bandJam and cake salesStreet fete

The finale of the project would be a film screening, with an honesty bar and donations taken on the door.
