Mul8-‐tasking  slows  us  down

Quality Software Management: Systems Thinking, Gerald Weinberg, 1992

Mul8-‐taskers  are  suckers  for  irrelevancy

Eyal Ophir, Clifford Nass and Anthony D.Wagner “Cognitive Control in Media Multitaskers”, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, 2009

“No  one's  brain  is  different  enough  to  make  constant  interrup, ons,  distrac, ons,  and  task-‐switching  an  op,mal  environment  in  which  to  func,on.  No  one's.”

So what next?

Build  one  yourself

• Buy  black  foam  board  material

• Cut  a  rectangle  of  ca.  A3  size

• With  a  white  marker  draw  4  columns  and  label  them

• Split  the  “Doing”  column  into  “Doing”  and  “Wai8ng”

• Make  a  line  at  the  bo\om  for  the  habits/notes  area

• Let  the  paint  dry

• Start  using    your  board
