SUBJECT: MATHS
GUIDELINES: For chart: Use A3 size sheet pictures draw borders, write neatly and boldly. For Project: Do the project in the project file For Worksheet: Do all the questions neatly in the Maths notebook. Worksheet :
1. Express 23.43 in p/q form where p & q are integers and q is non zero.
2. Factorise : (i) 8 p 3 – q 3 – 12 p 2 q + 6pq 2
(ii) 2 x 3 + 9 x 2 + 10 x + 3 .
3. Verify that
X 3 + y 3 + z 3 – 3xyz = 1
2 (x + y + z ) [ ( x - y ) 2 +( y – z )2 + ( z - x)2 ]
4. If the ax3 + 4x2 + 3x -4 and x3 – 4x + a have the same remainder when divided by ( x – 3 ), find
the value of a.
5. I f a = 2 - √3 , find ( a - 1
𝑎 )3 .
6. If a, b, c are all non- zero and a + b+ c = 0, Prove that: a3 + b3 + c3 = 3abc
By using above property, without actually calculating the cubes, evaluate
( 9.8 )3 - ( 11.3 )3 + ( 1.5 )3 .
7. Factorise : (a + b + c )2 ₋ ( a – b – c )2 + 4b2 – 4c2

8. If P(x) = x2 – 4x + 3 , evaluate : p(2) – p(-1) +p(1/2) .
9. Let A and B are the remainder when a polynomial x 3 + a x 2 – 12x + 6 are divided by (x + 1) and
(x - 2) respectively . If 2 A – B = 10, find the value of a .
10. Show that (x-1) is a factor of the polynomial p(x) =x 3 + 2x 2 – x – 2 and hence factorise p(x) .
11. Simplify : (√3 + 1)( 1-√12) + 9 /(√3 + √12)
12. Find the value of x 3 – 8 y 3 – 36 x y – 216 , when x = 2y + 6 .
13. If x + 1
𝑥 = 3 , find the value of x 2 +
1
𝑥 2 and x 3 + 1/ x 3
14. If √2 = 1.414 , √3 = 1.732 , find 4/(3√3 − 2√2) + 3 / (3√3 + 2 √2) .
15. If a+b+c = 6 , find the value of (2- a) 3 + (2-b) 3 + (2-c) 3 – 3(2-a)(2-b)(2-c).
16. Represent √9.3 on the number line .
17. The volume of cuboid is polynomial p(x) = 8 x 3 + 12 x 2 – 2x – 3. Find possible expression for
dimension of the cuboid . Varify the result by taking x = 5 units.
18. If a x = b , b y = c and c z = a , then prove that xyz = 1 .
19. Find the value of 8 x 3 + 27 y 3 if 2x + 3y = 8 and xy = 2 .
20. Is (8/15) 3 – (1/3) 3 – (1/5 ) 3 = 8/75 ? How will you justify your answer without actual calculating
the cubes?
