A Letter from Our Pastor
Dear Parishioners,
We have waited these past months for the ability to gather
for the Eucharist. During these months, participation in the
Mass has been offered through livestreaming technology.
Unfortunately, there are those who are unable to connect this
way and for all of us Mass online just is not the same. Over the
past couple weeks, we have been slowly opening the Church to
in person attendance while keeping to Social Distancing Practic-
es. I realize that there are differing views on whether it is
too soon or not soon enough for Church to be open. We are
following the guidelines given us by the CDC and the Diocese of
Gary. Social Distancing is kept, people are wearing masks,
Hand Sanitizer is used and the whole Church is sprayed with
disinfectant (that meets CDC and EPA standards for COVID 19
disinfecting) following services. Following Indiana Guidelines,
those over 65 or with preexisting conditions while not prohibited
from attending Mass are reminded that they, “should limit
exposure at work and in their communities.” As we open,
anyone who is not comfortable attending should continue to stay
at home and if possible, participate in Mass by Internet or TV.
For the weekends of June 13/14, June 20/21, June 27/28, we will open our Churches to general attendance.
THE FOLLOWING MUST BE OBSERVED:
Save a Seat: We are limited in the number of people who can be present in the Church. Thus, to attend we must ask that you go to the parish website www.catholiclaporte.org and register yourself and your household. If you DO NOT have internet access, you may call the parish offices to register. Please keep in mind the directives regarding those over 65 and with health conditions in making your decision whether to attend.
Face Masks are required to attend and use of provided hand sanitizer on entering the Church.
Social Distancing: Households can sit together. Individuals must keep 6-foot Social Distancing Every other pew is roped off and 6-foot spaces are marked with tape.
For the weekends of June 13/14, 20/21 and 27/28 the Mass schedule will be: Saturday Vigil Masses: 4 pm Sacred Heart, 6 pm St. Joseph in Spanish Sunday Masses: 8 am St. Peter, 9 am St. Joseph, 10:45 am Sacred Heart , Noon St. Joseph in Spanish (Note: This Mass has been moved back to allow sanitizing between the 9 am and Noon Masses.) Peace and Blessings,
Fr. Ian

Second Reading – 1 Corinthians 10:16-17:
Brothers and sisters: The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.
Lord Who at Your First Eucharist
1. Lord, who at your first Eucharist did pray That all your Church might be forever one, Help us at ev'ry Eucharist to say With longing heart and soul, "Your will be done." Thus may we all one Bread, one Body be, Through this blest Sacrament of Unity.
2. For all your Church, O Lord, we intercede; O make our lack of charity to cease. Draw us the nearer each to each, we plead, By drawing all to you, O Prince of Peace. Thus may we all one Bread, one Body be, Through this blest Sacrament of Unity.
3. We pray for those who wander from your fold; O bring them back, Good Shepherd of the sheep, Back to the faith which saints believed of old, Back to the Church which still that faith does keep. Thus may we all one Bread, one Body be; Through this blest Sacrament of Unity.
4. So, Lord, at length when sacraments shall cease, May we be one with all your Church above, One with your saints in one unbroken peace, One with your saints in one unbounded love. More blessed still, in peace and love to be One with the Trinity in unity.
Text: William H. Turton, 1859-1938, alt. Gospel – John 6:51-58:
Jesus said to the Jewish crowds: "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world." The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever."
Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi)
First Reading – Deuteronomy 8:2-3, 14b-16a:
Moses said to the people:
"Remember how for forty years now the LORD, your God,
has directed all your journeying in the desert,
so as to test you by affliction
and find out whether or not it was your intention
to keep his commandments.
He therefore let you be afflicted with hunger,
and then fed you with manna,
a food unknown to you and your fathers,
in order to show you that not by bread alone does one live,
but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of the LORD.
"Do not forget the LORD, your God,
who brought you out of the land of Egypt,
that place of slavery;
who guided you through the vast and terrible desert
with its saraph serpents and scorpions,
its parched and waterless ground;
who brought forth water for you from the flinty rock
and fed you in the desert with manna,
a food unknown to your fathers."
Psalm 147: Praise the Lord, Jerusalem.

Gift of Finest Wheat
You satisfy the hungry heart With gift of finest wheat; Come give to us, O saving Lord, The bread of life to eat.
1. As when the shepherd calls his sheep, They know and heed his voice; So when you call your fam'ly, Lord, We follow and rejoice.
2. With joyful lips we sing to you Our praise and gratitude, That you should count us worthy, Lord, To share this heav'nly food.
3. Is not the cup we bless and share The blood of Christ outpoured? Do not one cup, one loaf, declare Our oneness in the Lord?
4. The myst'ry of your presence, Lord, No mortal tongue can tell: Whom all the world cannot contain Comes in our hearts to dwell.
5. You give yourself to us, O Lord; Then selfless let us be, To serve each other in your name In truth and charity.

Let There Be Peace on Earth
Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me. Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be. With God our creator, brothers (fam'ly) all are we. Let me (us) walk with my brother (each other) in perfect harmony. Let peace begin with me; let this be the moment now. With ev'ry step I take, let this be my solemn vow; To take each moment, and live each moment in peace eternally! Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.

2nd Communion Hymn, if needed
Alleluia! Sing to Jesus
1. Alleluia! Sing to Jesus! His the scepter, his the throne. Alleluia! His the triumph, His the victory alone. Hark! The songs of peaceful Zion Thunder like a mighty flood: "Jesus out of ev'ry nation Has redeemed us by his blood."
2. Alleluia! Not as orphans Are we left in sorrow now; Alleluia! He is near us; Faith believes, nor questions how. Though the cloud from sight received him When the forty days were o'er, Shall our hearts forget his promise, "I am with you evermore"?
3. Alleluia! Bread of angels, Here on earth our food, our stay! Alleluia! Here the sinful Flee to you from day to day. Intercessor, friend of sinners, Earth's redeemer, plead for me, Where the songs of all the sinless Sweep across the crystal sea.
4. Alleluia! King eternal, You the Lord of lords we own; Alleluia! Born of Mary, Earth your footstool, heav'n your throne. You within the veil, have entered, Robed in flesh, our great high priest; Here on earth both priest and victim In the eucharistic feast.

PRAYER FOR MAKING A
SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I em-brace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi)
“Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.” (1 Corinthians 10:17)
As disciples of Jesus, we are called to lead holy lives and invite others to join us. Living a stewardship lifestyle, being grateful and generous with our gifts, serves a twofold purpose. One, it helps build God’s kingdom here on earth. Two, it helps us strengthen each other’s rela-tionship with God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. It becomes our road map to Heaven. Let’s help each other get there!
