The purpose of this project was to create an elegant yet sophisticated
residential pool design that addresses the slope of the site without losing any of
its functionality. The result is a three-tiered radial design emanating from the building at
the center.

Hand Rendered Plan
The design for this site blends functionality with aesthetics. A field of play
which doubles as a park with space for active
and passive recreation was conceived. The plan uses a circular/
semicircular theme to establish boundaries and elements within
the field, which ultimately serve as the
basis for the design. Tunnels, cylinders
and movable rubber spheres (which
can be placed into shallow holes in the
field to immobilize them) serve as
obstacles which teams may use in
a game of laser tag.

The comprehensive redesign of Clam Creek Park and the Jekyll Island Campground was created for the Jekyll Island Authority to address concerns of shoreline erosion, circulation, park planning, access to amenities and additional site features. The plan takes into account factors such as ecological integrity, aesthetics and functionality to create a holistic approach to the space. Careful attention is paid to acknowledge the past and potential future of the site. This design will ensure that the site continues to be a relaxing, beautiful, and practical island getaway for it’s patrons.

Clam Creek Park
The design for the northern Clam Creek park focuses on issues of functionality and environmental sensitivity. A simplified circulation system involving a circular path is used allowing for both pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Added amenities include plazas, pavilions, a small cafe, an observation tower, benches, swing sets, and a recreational field. At the water’s edge is a living shoreline installation which will provide a strong sustainable and ecological solution to the site’s erosion problems.

Clam Creek Park
The Campground section of the design is focused on providing for the needs of a diverse pool of potential visitors. This central space provides opportunities for all types of campers to gather for certain activities. It includes a clubhouse, an outdoor amphitheater, picnic area and a recreational field. It would be a major asset for the campground, allowing them to provide diverse programming and bring together different groups of campers that wouldn’t otherwise have had a chance to interact with one another.

Athens
Site
This site is currently a mostly abandoned industrial area just south of downtown Athens. In order to revitalize the area, a comprehensive urban development plan has been created featuring commercial, residential, open space and preserved greenspace. The site is seperated into two areas by a rail line, but connected by an elevated pedestrian corridor.

Urban Redevelopment
The main portion of this urban redevelopment focuses on creating varying levels of usable space on a spectrum from the strictly urban commercial use at the northern end of the site (nearest to the existing downtown area) to mixed use towards the center and purely residential use to the south (which is closest to existing apartments). An effort has been made to preserve most of the existing greenspace as can be seen to the east and south of the site. A small public park is located at the center and focal point of the site while a residential pool and lawn space is featured at the other end of the primary corridor. The site offers many modes of transport as it features ample parking, multiple bus stops and walkways throughout.

This detail plan takes a small under utilized urban street and transforms it into a public gathering space. Focus is placed upon local sustainable organic gardening and providing functional resources for residents such as outdoor dining, shaded seating and an amphitheater. All pedestrian pavement is permeable and rain gardens at the bottom of the site collect runoff from the street.

Athens
Site
This site is located at the highest point in Athens Georgia just in front of City Hall and is currently vastly underutilized. In order to give the space a more pedestrian friendly and utilitarian feel the unnecessarily wide road has been split to give room for a lawn space and large planters containing trees and shrubs. The space would be optimal for everyday use or to hold larger events and festivals.
