- Born in Bilbao in 1904

- Member of the EAJ-PNV party.

- Mayor of Getxo, near Bilbao.

- First President of the Basque Autonomous Government of Euzkadi.

Agirre died in Paris on 22 March 1960 of a heart attack, aged 56.
