My graduate collection ‘The Anomalies’ is inspired by the ground-breaking ideas of string theory. One of the main contenders for the ‘Theory of Everything’, it is an active research framework in particle physics that breaks down the atom further, and states that everything in the world is made up of tiny, vibrating 11– dimensional strings. It is a beautiful equation that solves many

anomalies in physics, and could explain how the universe came to be.

If proven to be correct, one of the most exciting but equally as disturbing revelations is our universe is not alone, but one of an infinite amount.

Captivated by this mind-blowing theory and highly intrigued as to how I could portray these ideas Captivated by this mind-blowing theory and highly intrigued as to how I could portray these ideas in fashion, I explored and developed 1960's string art techniques. By weaving string through

drilled holes in flexible PVC, I discovered I could create a three- dimensional structure. Worn on top of other garments they have an astounding hovering effect.

The final designs of this collection were all hand woven, each piece using between 70 - 250 metres of sting.

Super natural is about the ephemeral. Creating a presence where there is nothing but the overwhelming

beauty of that particular moment.

The feeling of seeing the sun go down, it may last only briefly, but the image is forever burned into

your memory.

Captured by water in all its elusive, ephemeral states, I set out to create it’s illusion. By melting and

manipulating pvc the final result was so real it was surreal. evoking that powerful, ephemeral moment.

IS IS | FEEL GOOD LOST

In our second year of design we were assigned a group project. The task was to design and produce a mini collection for a specified local store. Our label IS IS was created for Void, a high street wear store. Void sold a variety of labels from the likes of Lee and Federation, to Sylvester and Ricochet.

As they stocked a large range of swimwear we produced a summer collection As they stocked a large range of swimwear we produced a summer collection including bikinis and one pieces. Our final collection ‘Feel Good Lost’ was inspired by summer memories - hot evenings, hazy colours, and endless days.

After presenting our collection to Void it was purchased and produced for sale in their store. This is the first and only collection to be sold by any of the stores partaking in this annual project.
