Name may has often been attributed to "Jump Jim Crow", a song-and-dance caricature of African Americans (very negative)
Basis for segregation was “Separate but equal” was seen constitutional and upheld by supreme court (Plessy case)
By the end of the lesson I will be able to :
1) explain how the Jim Crow laws discriminated against Black people in the USA
2) explain the role of the Ku Klux Klan in maintaining segregation in the USA
