A Message from the Commodore
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope eve-ryone is enjoying the holidays and finding time to visit with family and friends despite the inclement weather. December was a busy month with events almost every weekend. The club was beautifully deco-
rated for the holidays by the Decorating Committee from the Ladies Auxiliary and many of our staff members. Thanks to all who partici-pated. Santa made his annual visit to see the future members of PCYC and take pictures with them thanks to Jim and Gayla Schmitt for the pho-tography and printing. Also, for those of you who are not aware, we have had a very dedicated Santa who has personally visited for the last 20+ years. Thank you Robin for seeing that Santa was always here for our little ones. The Annual Stockholders’ Meeting was held and included a presenta-tion by committee chairs of the clubs accomplishments over the past year. At the end of the meeting, we announced the Board Elections and I would like to thank John Curren (6 years) and Jeffery Taylor (3 years) for their dedication and hard work while on the Board. Return-ing to the Board for a second term is Anita Giani and Hutson Lambert and congratulations to our newest Board Members, Tony Diaz del Valle and Keith Petagna. At the end of the meeting, the Merrick-Kerrigan Award was presented to Joy Burke for her outstanding ser-vice to the club over the past year. A week later was the Flag Officer Elections and the Board reinstated the current flag officers to a sec-ond term; Commodore Patrick Burns, Vice Commodore Joy Burke and ear Commodore Hutson Lambert. Starting in January, we will be holding town hall meetings to discuss the parking lot project in more detail with the hopes of getting input from our members as we move forward. Please check out the calendar for the upcoming events as I know we have a lot going on at PCYC in the near future. Patrick Burns, Commodore

Ladies Auxiliary President’s Letter
As I come to the end of my first year as president of the PCYC Ladies Auxiliary, I would like to say Thank You to my board and to all ladies for helping make this a great year. I am not real sure where 2015 went, but it was busy and very productive. I would also like to say Thank You to the men of the club that helped us on the water during the Knost Regatta and at the Holiday Boutique. We had 4 members “retire” from the board. Thank you to Stephanie Allen, Joan Donnow, Gwenn Voigts and Barbara Woelke. They have certainly been a big part of the board. In January, we welcome Beverly Diaz, Susan Grey and Charla Pryor to the board.
Thank you to Kathy Carboni who always gave a very meaningful blessing at every luncheon. Thank you to all of the PCYC’s member who have so graciously supported our fund raisers. For those of you that are new to the club, the money we raise – dues, parking space, boutique – we use for our club. We hope that next year we can add another set of furniture for the deck, continue to assist with the club’s involvement with the bridal shows, and maybe, some of the other things the big board can think of! At our December luncheon, we voted on the recipient of the Googsie Rafferty Award. In January, we will make the presentation to that lady. Please join us as we will also recognize the Googsie Rafferty Past recipi-ents. For those of you that did not attend the annual meeting, there were 2 awards given out. One went to the “Employee of the Year”, Cindy. The Kerrigan Award goes to a person who has been active and involved in all aspects of the club. The Kerrigan Award went to Joy Burke. Thank you to our hostesses Sandy Byrne and Kathy Carboni for a delicious lunch. We don’t get Cornish hen to often! Their co-hostesses were Judy Gorbert and Carol Stewart. The winners of the door prizes were Evelyn Gregory, Mary Jane Christman, Ursula Frilot and Ardys Heurtin. Maggie Sedgwick was the winner of the 50/50. There are a lot of events happening in January. It’s time to pay your dues - $10.00 for the year. Make sure you mark January 27th your calendar for Ladies Night. On JANUARY 30TH, PCYC’s Bards of the Binnacle will welcome King Neptune XXXX and his Queen Neptuna XXXX as they “Celebrating the 60’s”.
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See ya at the club.
Cheri Dillard

Sailing News MICHAEL BURNS WINS MIDWINTER CHAMPIONSHIP
It was a beautiful Thanksgiving weekend in New Orleans for the 2015 USODA AllState Midwinter Championship. The regatta was held at Southern Yacht Club with close to 90 sailors competing in both Opti Advanced and Green fleet. Sail-ors were greeted with the traditional Cafe du Monde beignets for the start of the event, which is always a huge hit for the kids (parents too).
After two days and 10 races total, Michael Burns finished first overall beating his nearest competitor by a margin of 20 points. Michael had the honor of winning the Mendleblatt Trophy, 1st red fleet, and the recipient of the John Lovell Tro-phy as the top Optimist class Gulf Yachting Association youth sailor. This is a tremendous accomplishment by a PCYC sailor in the Opti class. As a tradition, the overall winner is heckled to give a speech and without hesitation Michael obliged his fellow competitors.
Other top honors to note was the 'Top 3 Girls overall award' in which Claire Housey won third place. Overall, Claire fin-ished in 12th place, Jonathan Schrantz finished 24th and Sofia Diaz del Valle was 50th.
Upcoming Regattas: December 27-30, 2015 Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta (I420, c420, Laser, Opti) - Coral Reef Yacht Club in Miami, FL January 16-18, 2016 USODA Midwinter Team Race Championship (Opti) - Lakewood Yacht Club, Seabrook, TX January 30, 2016 Super Bowl Regatta (c420) - Bay Waveland Yacht Club
Other Sailing News Great Oaks Invitational Regatta PCYC sailors competed in the Great Oaks Invitational Regatta in c420s for their respective high schools, including Boyd Housey (SSC) who skippered with crew Charlie Breath (SSC) and Jonathan Schrantz (Newman) who also skippered. Boyd/Charlie qualified for Gold fleet and finished 12th overall. Jonathan, qualifying in Silver fleet, finished in 11th place.
AllState Sugar Bowl High School Regatta
PCYC sailor, Jonathan Schrantz (Newman), also competed in the AllState Sugar Bowl High School Regatta (c420) fin-ishing 2nd overall in Division A.
