District DevelopmentCommissioner Baramulla,Dr G N Itoo along with Di-rector Tourism KashmirNisar Ahmad Wani andother concerned functionar-ies today reviewed the paceand progress of various de-velopmental projects un-dertaken in the tourism sec-tor.

Later they also inspectedseveral parks of the districtincluding Echo Park locatedon the bank of river Jhelumat Khadniyar Baramullawhere the DDC got the firsthand appraisal of variousongoing works.

He also discussed variousmodalities with the con-cerned agencies for the es-tablishment of ChildrenPark, for which the land hasbeen identified in the vicinityof the said park.

The DDC took an ap-praisal of the developmentof cycle track as a move topromote adventuretourism.Speaking on the oc-casion, DDC said that vari-ous measures have beentaken to promote tourism inthe district adding that thesector constitutes an impor-tant component in eco-nomic development.

He stressed upon the con-

cerned agencies to speed upthe pace of work on the de-velopmental projects takenin the tourism sector so thatthese works are completedwithin the stipulated timeframe.

Moreover, he exhortedthem to abide by the guide-lines and SOPs issued inconnection with theCOVID-19 outbreak for mit-igating the risk of infection.

tients admitted at SKIMSBemina (JVC) were dis-charged today after success-ful completion of treatmentand testing negative beforedischarge.With this thenumber of COVID-19 re-covered patient's moves to498 out of total COVID pos-itive admitted patientsnumbering 630 till date.

The recovery rate at pre-sent is more than 790 andwith five fatalities, the mor-

tality rate is 0.79 percent.The treated patients in-

clude COVID positive pa-tients admitted for mater-nity care wherein till date 44deliveries of COVID positivepregnant ladies including25 major surgeries (LSCS)for child birth have beendone.Besides this, theCOVID Testing Lab atSKIMS Medical CollegeHospital, Bemina is con-ducting more than 500Tests daily and till date23756 tests have been con-ducted.

Deputy Commissioner(DC) Bandipora, ZahoorAhmad Mir Wednesdaysaid that only those shop-keepers that test negativeand attended mandatorytraining on COVID-19 shallbe allowed to operate theirbusinesses.

He said the shopkeepersof the Bandipora town fromNussu to Kaloosa includingKhadim Market, Shops onAjar-DC Office Road shalloperate on alternate dayswith shops located on rightside (East-Side) on one dayand shops located on left-Side (West Side) on otherday from Wednesday on-wards.

The DC directed the shop-keepers to strictly ensurethat they shall display theirnegative test reports andcertificate of having at-tended COVID19 trainingon entry of the shop andshall keep record of the cus-tomers with basic details ona daily basis.

The shopkeepers havealso been directed to ensureadequate social distancingamong customers and shallkeep sanitzers on the front

desk of the shop besideskeeping masks available inthe shop.

He however directed theshopkeepers not to sellitems to those customerswho are without masks.

Mir urged the shopkeep-ers to cooperate with thedistrict administration toprevent spread of virus andadded that the shops shallremain closed on Sundaysand the business hours shallstart from 9 am to 5 pm andnight curfew shall continueto remain in place in the dis-trict.Earlier Mir inspectedthe lockdown measures andimposition of restrictions inthe town amid COVID19pandemic.

He appealed to the peopleof Bandipora town to coop-

erate with the medicalteams dealing with COVIDby ensuring their tests aredone for the wellbeing of thesociety.

Mir said a special samplecollection centre shall be es-tablished at GovernmentMiddle School BranchBandipora for the conve-nience of the shopkeepersand asked the CMO Bandi-pora to ensure samples ofshopkeepers are taken fortesting.

He said the precautionarymeasures are the only solu-tion to break the chain ofspread of virus and the sit-uation may go out of hand ifpeople neglect adoptingprecautionary measures asis being witnessed in someparts of the country.

The district administrationAnantnag in collaborationwith Department of Preven-tive and Social Medicine,GMC Anantnag today orga-nized a Sensitization cumAwareness Camp at Pahal-gam tourist club.

The camp was inauguratedby District Magistrate (DM)Anantnag, K K Sidha flankedby ADC Gh. Hassan Sheikh

The DM said that due topandemic there is no touristactivity at famous tourist des-tination Pahalgam and assuch district administrationin collaboration with GMChas taken an initiative to sensi-tise and aware all stakehold-ers including hoteliers, pony-

wals and other businessescommunities to start businessactivities after following allSOPs and medical guidelines.

In this regard a practicaltraining session for trans-porters, ponywalls and otherbusiness houses was demon-strated in front of the DM.

The DM said that the dis-trict administration will pro-vide free masks, face shieldsand sanitizers to the stake-holders to prevent transmis-sion of virus.

He said the objective of thecamp was to aware the hote-liers, restaurant runners ,fastfood outlets, chefs, cooks,frontline workers and othersto follow SOPs and guidelineswith regard to covid-19 to pre-vent and protect themselves

and visitors from the infec-tion.

He also said that suchawareness camps are neededfor the hour and people mustobey the guidelines, advisesand SOPs given out by themedical fraternity and disastermanagement authority ofAnantnag to make touristdestinations like Pahalgamand other related stations freefrom this pandemic.

During the Tour, thePCCF e-inaugurated oneday Web Based Trainingprogramme organized forthe front-line staff of theForest Department fromUdhampur Forest Division.

Thereafter, he inspectedFire Control Room at Divi-sion Head Quarter and in-structed the staff to keepclose vigil with cooperationof local people to preventwild fire. He asked them tomake use of locally de-signed fire-fighting toolslike Rakes, Daratis, FireBeaters as they are bettersuited to local field condi-tions.

Later, the PCCF long withCF East inspected theCAMPA closures ofBhangara Block in Co. 50 &Co. 55.

The staff members weredirected to enhance the par-ticipation of local commu-

nities in protection andmanagement wherein theycan be provided withusufructs like grasses andMFPs. The inspection of theplantation Unit in Co. 98/DMargana, Dudu Range wasalso conducted. The PCCFdirected the staff to conductan exercise to assess thesurvival and performanceof different planted speciesalong with extent of naturalregeneration.

On the last leg of the tour,the PCCF inspectedCAMPA closures of Co. 63& 70 Basantgarh, besidesThandapani Nursery wherethe directions were issuedto upgrade the nursery spe-cially for raising of qualityplants of Chir pine and BanjOak for gap planting in the

nearby forests.Improved methods of

seed treatment and nurserytechnology were also ex-plained to the staff and theywere directed to upgradethe nursery infrastructureusing local materials.

A detailed plan was alsofinalized for raising of bestquality saplings for comingyears by utilizing only localseed from best sources.

The tour concluded withthe inspection of chain linkfencing in Kirmoo in southrange of Ramnagar ForestDivision, where directionswere issued for carrying outpruning & training of localspecies like Phalai & Taliand initiate assisted naturalregeneration of existingstock.

Expressing deep concernover the increasing corruptionin Jammu and Kashmir, BDCChairpersons, who met heretoday, said that the corruptionhas crossed all limits in this pe-riod.

Nearly thirty BDC chairper-sons from various districtswere met here on Wednesdayaccused the Governor’s ad-ministration of complete fail-ure in curbing corruption.

In his presidential address,Shafiq Mir, Chairman All Jand K Panchayat Conferencedemanded investigation intothe COVID related expensesdone by Deputy Commission-ers in their respective districts.He added that large numbersof fake Bill's worth crores of ru-pees have been drawn during

Mir said that more than oneyear has passed of PRI elec-tions conducted in J&K UTbut till date not a single pennyhas been allotted to BDCChairpersons for develop-ment purposes. The immunity boostersare to be distributed by ISM(AYUSH) in collaborationwith Health Departmentthrough Mobile MedicalUnit Kishtwar.

District Nodal OfficerISM (AYUSH), Dr. TaraqHussain informed that thesecond phase will cover theareas lacking ISM dispen-sary, while the Immunity

Booster (AYUSH) Medicinewould be distributed toFrontline Workers and Se-nior Citizens among thevast population of thedensely populated District.

The aim of the depart-ment is to cover 100% popu-lation of Senior Citizens,frontline workers, Officerand Officials who are work-ing day and night to combatthe spread of virus. The Im-munity Booster medicinesdevelop strong immunityagainst the deadly virus, headded.

In the first phase, Immu-nity Booster (AYUSH) Med-icines were distributed tofrontline workers/ Policeofficer and officials, CRPF,

auction system for offi-cers of Agriculture, Horti-culture and CADdepartments was todayorganized by NationalInformatics Center(NIC) here at KrishiBhawan.

The Training was orga-nized by Joint Direc-torate of Agriculture (In-puts) Jammu on thedirections and guidanceof Director AgricultureJammu, Inder Jeet. Per-tinently this was the firstof its kind training heldby NIC in Union Terri-tory of J&K.

Technical session wasconducted by resourcepersons from J&K Na-tional Informatics Cen-ter (NIC), Sh Deepak Ba-jaj and Sumit Kapoor,Senior Programmers.

Practical Demonstrationon various aspects of e-auction including onlineregistration, uploadingof required information,receiving and filteringthe requests by the bid-ders etc were covered inlength during the train-ing. The electronic auc-tion system is cost/ timesaving and creates a dy-namic environment foreasier business.

In order to provide a plat-form to the young collegeand school students ofJammu and Kashmir, theDepartment of EnglishGDC Doda in collaborationwith Indian Academic Re-searchers Association (JKWing) organised an onlinepoetry competition. Thecompetition was organisedunder the guidance and pa-tronage of CommissionerSecretary to Higher Educa-tion Department J&K MrTalat Parvez Rohilla andPrincipal GDC Doda DrShafqat Hussain Rafiqi.

HoD English Prof Falakwas the Convener of theevent where as DrJamsheed Ahmad was theChief Organiser.

The flyer for the competi-tion was e-released by thedepartment on 5th June2020 and the result was de-clared on 30th June. Withan overwhelming response,around 220 poems were re-ceived from different partsof the Union Territory.

In the first step of thecompetition a team of fac-ulty Dr Attied Khawar Bal-wan, Dr Farooq Ahmed and

Mr Mohd Abbas thoroughlychecked and shortlisted thetop twenty poems.

The shortlisted poemswere checked for plagiarismand sent to three judges forthe final judgement. It ispertinent mention here thatin order to maintain trans-parency and impartialitythe poems were evaluatedthrough a blind review.

While talking to this cor-respondent the chief organ-iser of the event DrJamsheed Ahmad said, "Wehad planned to publish thetop fifty poems in the formof a book but only aroundtwenty poems have beenfound to be worth publish-ing so we will take a decisionon this issue later on. How-ever we assure the winnersthat the top three poemswill be published in an in-ternational journal in casewe won't find enough num-ber of poems for the book".He further added that to en-sure a fair judgement theshortlisted poems werecoded and the name, ad-dress and educational affili-ation of the students wereremoved. Only the text ofthe poems was forwarded tothe judges.
