Transcript of James 2 faith without works

Evaluating Genuine Faith James 2:14-1914 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says

he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save

him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of

daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in

peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give

them the things which are needed for the body, what

does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not

have works, is dead.18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have

works.” Show me your faith without your[a] works,

and I will show you my faith by my[b] works. 19 You

believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the

demons believe—and tremble!

1) What does our Faith “Do”?

2) Do we simply agree that Jesus

was the Son of God or do we

BELIEVE it?

3) What do we profit by professing

Faith ?

1) Do you say, I am for the widows

and the orphans ?

2) What have you done lately?

3) Whom have you fed?

4) To whom have you given

clothes?

1) “Depart in Peace” is like when we

say “Pace”. Do you say that to a

hungry person on the street ?

2) “Be warmed and Filled” – Sarcasm

1) Would the needy person that

has no coat or no food want

your words or …….?

3) Do we really trust that God will take

care of our needs? How so, if when

we see others in need we don’t do

something about it?

1) “Word’s only” – Faith is Dead

1) This is not the Faith that one who truly believes in Christ as Lord & Savior

has.

2) God raised Jesus from the Dead, not so that we would have “Dead faith” but

so that we can be Reincarnated with Living Faith that He will bring all His

good works to pass.

2) So is it Faith or Works?

1) Romans 3:28 ; Galatians 2:16 ; Ephesians 2:8,9

2) It’s not a difference in opinion but rather a different perspective that makes

these two sound different.

3) What role will you play in the benevolence ministry?

1) Are you a “Faith person” not much into all the “works’

2) Show me your “Faith”!

• Visible Intercession

• What are you doing to VISUALLY INTERCEED?

James 2:20-26 Visible Intercession20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?[c] 21 Was

not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was

made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God,

and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”[d] And he was called the friend of

God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the

messengers and sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is

dead, so faith without works is dead also.

1) Abraham was considered Righteous

1) When?

2) How?

3) Why?

2) Abraham’s faith produced an Action

1) What?

3) Faith with works justifies man

1) Like a screen door on a

submarine!
