PROJECT TITLE: REPAIR AND STRENGTHENING WORKS FOR CRACKS ON THE LIBRARY FLOORS OF ISTAC (TO ALLOW FOR 7 STACKS OF BOOK SHELF)

Nature of Problem

Cracks were observed on the 1st floor & 2nd floor library. It was suspected that the floors were not designed to take the load of a library.

The Solution

The beams & slabs on the affected floors were strengthened to take live load of 11kN/m2 using combination of carbon fibre method & beam enlargement method.
