I would like to begin my newsletter item this week with a number of thanks:
Firstly, thank you for all of your patience with our CHQ club sign up on Monday. Due to large volumes
of traffic, the system was very slow from 5.00pm to 7.00pm although I am pleased to state that all club
preferences have now been made and the huge administrative task of allocating clubs has now begun.
We are working hard with CHQ to ensure that sign up speed in the future is maintained throughout the
whole sign up process.
Thank you also to all parents that attended our Meet the Teacher evenings this week on Wednesday and
Thursday with over 350 parents in attendance across the two nights. I hope that you found this event
informative across many aspects relating to school life.
Finally, thank you to our PTG welcome Back Coffee Morning committee in hosting a very successful get together on Thursday.
It was great to see so many of our new parents sharing their first experiences of life at BIS and in Vietnam over a cup of tea and
a delicious pastry.
Following our successful ‘Moving On’ workshop for parents back in June, I would like to invite all parents to our ‘Settling In’
workshop on Tuesday 16th September at 8.15am. The aim of the workshop is to help give parents some practical ways to help
their children settle into a new country, a new school or even a new class. Presentations will be given by members of our admis-
sions department and also our school counsellor.
Now routines have been established within school for the new academic year, I would like to remind all parents that children in
MP1- MP3 should be dropped off in school no earlier that 7.30am when full playground supervision begins and collected from
classrooms at 2.30pm. All EYFS children should be supervised by parents until they are taken to their classes at 7.55am. Thank
you very much for your support in this matter.
I hope that you enjoying reading though the pages of this week’s newsletter.

A Great Start To The Year in F1 and F2
F1 and F2 have had a wonderful start to the school year. The children have been making new friends as well as playing with
their friends from last year. We have become more settled in our classrooms and have begun to explore some of our other learn-
ing spaces. We have all had a wonderful couple of weeks and look forward the rest of the year.

The PTG outdid themselves once more with a wonderful coffee morning for newcomers. Sincere thanks to Cath-
erine Bledsoe for hosting in her lovely home. Special thanks also to those that helped with the event; Myriam
Julian Helms, Khanh Nguyen and Fraine Mahoney for the lovely coffee. We are incredibly fortunate to have
such a great group of mums and dads that are willing to give up their own time to support not only the school
and children but also the families new to Ho Chi Minh City - it is a real strength of our BIS community. Once
again if you would like to be part of any of the PTG events coming up, please email bisvnptgap1@gmail.com
