Inflationary Cosmological Models With Tachyon And Radion Fields

Inflation(the GOOD one, in Cosmology)

Abstract: A popular class of the inflationary cosmological models is based on an introduction of a scalar field with non-standard tachyonic Lagrangian of the Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) type. A potentially fundamental role of the tachyon fields in the braneworld cosmology was proposed by A. Sen. Research in this PhD thesis is motivated by Randall-Sundrum (RSII) cosmological model. The main objective of the research is to formulate and solve a numerical inflationary model with DBI-tachyon field and RSII model with an additional radionfield, as well as to compute observational parameters. Obtained results are in a good agreement with the real astrophysical data and provide a better understanding of the role of strings and branes in modern cosmology. The results indicated that role of radion in an initial RSII setup is less important than expected.

It all started with a BIG BANG ☺

Foucault pendulum

• Simple device conceived as an experiment to demonstrate the rotation of the Earth (1851 - the first simple proof of the rotation)

• Coriolis force (an inertial force, acts on objects that are in motion relative to a rotating reference frame, pseudoforce)

Project DECO

• Citizen science project that enables users around the world to detect cosmic rays and other energetic particles with their cell phones and tablets.

• Digital camera sensors detect muons in much the same way that they detect photons when we take a picture of friends or a landscape.

Project DECO - events

• A straight "track" shape indicates a muon produced by a cosmic ray

• A "worm" shape indicates an electron produced by a radioactive decay that either produced an electron directly or produced a gamma ray that then knocked loose an electon

• A "spot" shape indicates an electron or gamma ray
