critical thinking for the professions
Introducing Eliquent Business Consulting
All business sectors are not the same. Many have much in common in terms of the
challenges they face and their need to focus on what their customers and clients
want. However, the critical success factors and the relative importance of those
factors vary from sector to sector. How an organisation anticipates or responds to
those factors determines the degree of success and market leadership.
The professional services sector—legal, accounting, architecture, engineering,
financial services—is the sector we know best. You will find we really understand the
critical success factors and business drivers—the importance of leverage and having
the right people, the need to develop a marketing strategy and to implement it, how
to successfully develop new products and services, and how to stand out in a
crowded market.
What’s more, our clients say we really do know what their business is about—and that
our strategies work. Perhaps that’s because we’ve worked in-house and
consulted to the sector since 1985. We’ve found out what works and what doesn’t.
We don’t recreate the wheel. Once we’re briefed, we respond quickly to help our
clients develop, build and operate strong businesses that deliver sustained growth
over time. You’ll also discover the core of our business success—our ability to
articulate and communicate business concepts clearly and simply.
Critical thinking at its best.

3 WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US
Kathleen Singleton and Michele Rosengren are the partners of Eliquent Business
Consulting in Brisbane. We understand the issues professional firms face because
we’ve worked in-house for around 10 years. During that time, we’ve become the
confidantes of hundreds of professionals. As consultants, dozens of firms have
trusted us to help them grow and develop their business and their people. We like to
think we repay that trust by becoming deeply entrenched in each of our client’s
businesses as though it were our own. We know our success and reputation depends
on yours. Here’s a brief introduction to us.
4 WHO WE ARE
Kathleen has held senior executive positions with two major legal firms, Clayton
Utz and Minter Ellison, in her 20-year career in public administration, business
development and marketing. Her consulting experience totals almost 10 years during
which time she has advised a wide range of firms, businesses and arts organisations.
Kathleen is highly regarded for her knowledge of the driving sectors of the
Queensland and Australian economies and of the external influences that have an
impact on business opportunities and operations. She has a breadth of experience in
market and industry research and in using that information in developing business
and marketing strategies.
Kathleen has extensive experience in most aspects of organisational development
and in facilitating strategic business planning retreats. She is respected for her
ability to develop rapport with the wide range of distinct personalities frequently
found in senior management teams and partnerships.
Kathleen is also passionate about the need to provide business development,
marketing, and management skills to business teams and enjoys interacting with
people in training, workshop and mentoring situations. She has tutored and lectured
in marketing to undergraduates and for five years presented the marketing module
in the 2 day residential Practice Management Course conducted for the Queensland
Law Society by the Graduate School of Management at the University of Queensland
(a mandatory course for law firm principals seeking admission in Queensland).
