From the Editors...
October is a significant month for many of our readers with Breast Cancer having touched most families
in one way or another. This is the month to Think Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness and join in by raising or donating funds for cancer support and research. Buy a pink product, fly pink or organise an event – there’s a
plethora of activities to choose from and we’ve included many of these in our “Pink” October issue.
This month we launch our first Special Feature - intouch with Hamilton. It’s the colourful multicultural suburb of Newcastle with a fascinating history that dates back to the discovery of coal near
St Peter’s Church. Thanks to all of the fabulous Hamilton businesses for their involvement!
For someone who doesn’t consider himself a creative person, Marcus Westbury’s career has certainly
been focussed on interesting things. The Newcastle-raised broadcaster, writer and festival director has been responsible for some of the countries more
unconventional cultural events. The launch of Marcus' new book Creating Cities just might be his best work yet.
It’s warming up – but if the thermometer’s too slow for your liking then a trip to Airlie Beach may be just the
ticket. The 2015 Airlie Beach Festival is gearing up to be the best yet and in a tropical setting to die-for. Keep your
eyes open – we have a fist-full of 3-Day passes (worth $245 each!) to giveaway in this issue.
Enjoy!
