System IP Addresses(2)• MD8430A
IP address is derived from the serial number and is of the form: 1.1ab.1cd.1ef, where a, b, c,d, e and f are the last 6 digits of the serial number labeled on the instrument.
• MD8480CIP address is derived from its serial number and is of the form: 1.1.1wx.1yz where w, x, y, z are the 4 digits of the serial number labeled on the instrument.

Boot Up Sequence(1)Turn on all equipment except MD8470A(s), MD8430A and Data Server PC. Then follow the boot sequence in section Boot up Sequence for a Single MD8470A or section Boot up Sequence for Multiple MD8470As to avoid the conditions mentioned below.• Boot up Sequence for a Single MD8470A
- Boot the MD8470A.- Ensure the IP addresses on the MD8470A are as follows:- Ethernet 0 (data) 192.168.254.2/24- Ethernet 1 (control) 1.1.1.2/8- Start the MX847030A and MX847031A Remote Interface applications
on MD8470A.- Boot the MD8430A.- Boot the Server PC.
Note: Do not change the MD8470A IP addresses after the system has been initialized.

Boot Up Sequence (2)• Boot up Sequence for Multiple MD8470As
- Boot both Master and Slave MD8470A.- Ensure the IP addresses on both MD8470As are as follows:
MD8470A (Master)Ethernet 0 (data): 192.168.254.2/24Ethernet 1 (control): 1.1.1.2/8
MD8470A (First Slave)Ethernet 0 (data): 192.168.254.3/24Ethernet 1 (control): 1.1.1.3/8
- On the MD8470A (Slave), set the Reference Signal to External on the Session Daemon.
- On the MD8470A (Slave), start the MX847030A (Slave) application.- Wait for the Command prompt message: Wait for Response #1.- On MD8470A (Master), start the MX847030A (Master) application.- Wait for the message: Synchronizing.
Internal use only Slide 16
Boot Up Sequence (3)- Wait for the message: Success.- On both MD8470A (Master) and MD8470A (Slave), start the
MX847031A Remote Interface applications.- Boot the MD8430A.- Boot the Server PC.
Note: Do not change the MD8470A IP addresses after the system has been initialized.
• MD8430A Address ResolutionThe MD8430A replies to all ARP requests received on the MD8480C 10/100Base-T port. This behavior can cause problems with MD8470A network communications, which may result in loss of CDMA2000® logging support or data path stability. This condition can be avoided by booting the system in a specific order.
