F u n e r a l s e r v i c e s were held Wednesday at the Hesse l Chape l in Spa r t a f o r Jo seph Wil l iam B e r -dan, age 63, of 25 O r c h a r d Dr ive , Spa r t a , who p a s s e d away v e r y suddenly on Sunday, J a n -u a r y 29, in S p a r t a .

M r . B e r d a n was born on F e b -r u a r y 7, 1902 , in Hami l ton , T e x a s , and r e c e i v e d h i s educa t ion in G r a n d Rap ids whe re he a t tended Union High School. He w a s a v e t e r a n of World War I . He was employed a s a p l a t e r f o r the L e a r - S i e g l e r Corp . in G r a n d R a p i d s .

He was a m e m b e r of the S p a r -ta Methodis t C h u r c h .

On Ju ly 23, 1966, he was m a r -r i e d to the f o r m e r Olive W. Witt in Spa r t a .
