A person has traditionally been considered to be obese if they are more than 20 percent over their ideal weight. That ideal weight must take into account the person's height, age, sex, and build.

10% of 2-5 year olds are overweight/obese. 35% come from low-income families

In Austin 28% of kindergarteners are obese.

The low socioeconomic status a direct correlation with

childhood obesity.

African Americans & Hispanics children have a higher obesity risk than their white peers.

Manor Independent School District

Many of the students live within the city limits of Austin.

Manor School District is a very diverse community comprised of 12 schools
