Skills Shortages

Next year 24,000 jobs will go begging simply because there are not enough skilled workers to fill them.

Fast-paced technological advances are driving major changes in industry

Government, TAFE Institutions and industry are already working together to address these challenges.

VET addressing Skills Shortages

Increasing the number of apprenticeships and traineeships – more than doubling the number of places from 1998-2002.

Supporting TAFE institutes to shift their delivery to areas of critical demand.

Working more closely with industry to predict their future skill needs and coordinating industry wide training initiatives.
