ADEA coordinates an annual diabetes scientific meeting in conjunction with the Australian Diabetes Society (ADS).

WHAT IS A CREDENTIALLED DIABETES EDUCATOR (CDE)?
Credentialled Diabetes Educators (CDEs) are healthcare practitioners qualified to provide a client-centred approach to diabetes education and care, empower patients and assist them in dealing with daily self-management, in accordance with the National Standards of Practice for Credentialled Diabetes Educators.

Health professionals who have met the criteria of Credentialling and are registered in an eligible primary health discipline for at least 2 years, can apply for this advanced recognition.

RECOGNITION IN HEALTHCARE
CDEs are recognised by: Medicare Australia as the providers of diabetes
education under the Medicare Benefits Schedule, the Department of Veterans Affairs as the providers
of diabetes education for veterans, the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) for
the purposes of authorising consumer registration on the NDSS,
Private Health Insurers who offer their customers rebates for Diabetes Education services.
