Next GenerationUsing Life Technologies Human Identification (HID) kits
The ID Starlet is a new Hamilton solution developed collaboratively with Life Technologies designed for the unique needs of forensic laboratories. The Hamilton ID STARlet workstation streamlines the entire DNA purification and analysis process using Life Technologies Human Identification (HID) kits. This includes: DNA isolation using the PrepFiler® Forensic DNA Extraction Kit, Quantification using the Quantifiler® and Quantifiler® Duo DNA Quantification Kits, Normalisation and STR reaction setup to achieve reliable profiling using any of a number of high quality Life Technologies AmpFℓSTR® (short tandem repeat) typing kits.
 Eliminate human errors
 Increase traceability
 Increase productivity and speed
TechnologyAutomation advantages:
Verification by technologies™
:
On-site performance verification by Life Technologies professional services
Verification report is generated using mock sample sets to guarantee instrument and reagents
performance
 Laboratory internal validation time reduced
Minimize contamination risk with the unique CO-RE technology:
the CO-RE system attaches disposable tips to the pipetting
channels with a stable lock-and-key fit. The system requires no
vertical force for tip attachment or tip ejection - no aerosols.
Complete sample tracking with the Autoload option: the
Autoload option reads barcodes of sample tubes, microplates
and carriers, verifies correct labware positions and loads
carriers automatically to the system for greater method security.
MAD: by monitoring the air-based pipetting action, the instrument detects clots or empty wells during
the aspiration step in real time.
Fully tested automated DNA protocols
• PrepFiler® - Purifies DNA from nearly any type of casework or reference sample in either tube or plate format – saving hours of DNA preparation time.
• Quantifiler®/Quantifiler® Duo: simplifies real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) assay setup to rapidly determine sample suitability for forensic DNA STR typing.
• Carries out automation of complex normalization and STR setup procedures over a widely varying (10,000 + fold) DNA concentration range. You may choose from one or more of the many available AB STR typing kits (e.g., Identifiler® Plus). This ensures successful downstream STR typing analysis.
Ease of useSoftware packagesThe automated ID STARlet methods for AB kits are designed to eliminate human error, reduce contamination, and increase data integrity and traceability – all leading to increased productivity and more rapid sample turn-around time. Each method group is independent. The user is guided through the method setup by a detailed graphical user interface. To facilitate the process, the methods allow a direct interface with input or output files from AB/Life Technologies instruments. A verification report is generated using mock sample sets to guarantee instrument and reagents performance.
