Finding iCat: from MyKingston

Finding iCat: type in icat.kingston.ac.uk

Using iCat (1)

• Log in first: staff and students with K numbers click on ‘Kingston’

• Search for books, journals, e-journals, e-books – make sure you choose ‘library catalogue’ and not ‘all resources’

• Search for articles – make sure you choose ‘all resources’

Using iCat (2)

• Database list for searching at database level (some are cross-searchable)

• E-journals list for browsing through all our e-journals

• Can also restrict by site or date

Search tips for databases

• Choose which fields you would like to search• Use Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT)• Search within full text where appropriate• Many services default to ‘advanced search’• ‘Peer reviewed’ option restricts search to
