Intel i3 Vs Intel i5 Vs Intel i7
By,

Intel i3 Vs Intel i5 Vs Intel i7 Introduction.
Intel Core i3
Intel Core i5
Intel Core i7
Comparison among i3, i5 and i7.
Conclusion.
Westmere
Its Intel’s code-name for Core i3 and
Core i5 6xx processors.
Its 3rd generation of Intel’s Nehalem
architecture.
Major differences :
It’s built on 32nm manufacturing
processor.
Advantage : Lower power consumption
and Reduced size.
Westmere (cont..)
It includes SSE (Streaming SIMD
Extensions) instructions aimed at
accelerating encryption and decryption
with the AES algorithm.
Westmere is largely the same as previous
Nehalem processors with slight
variations.
The IGP : Clarkdale
Intel has IGP onto the same die as the
CPU.
They are still separate entities, but they
are kept on the same piece of hardware.
This combination results are not so
exciting as they sound.
Real advancement is the inclusion of
support for Dolby True HD and DTS HD-
MA bit streaming over HDMI.
The IGP : Clarkdale(cont..)
Due to that, Core i3 based system could
play any kind of movie you throw at it,
including Blu-Rays, without performance
issues and without running into problems
with Blu-Ray encryption.
Intel Core i3
Codenamed: Clarkdale (Westmere)
Fabrication: 32 nm
Instruction set: X86, X86-64, MMX, SSE
4.2
Socket: LGA 1156
Bus: Direct Media Interface replacing
FSB( Front Side Bus)
RAM: DDR3
Chipset Support: P55, H55, H57, Q57
Intel Core i3 (cont..)
Clock speeds : 2.93 to 3.06 GHz.
Cache : 2X256 KB L2 and 4MB L3 .
Supports Hyper Threading
Has an Integrated graphics processor.
These don’t support Turbo Boost
(Dynamic over-clocking).
Hyper Threading
It is a technology used by Intel to simulate
more cores than actually exist on the
processor.
It also improves performance when using
programs that make good use of multi-
threading.
Intel Core i5
Codenamed: Lynnfield (Nehalem),
Clarkdale (Westmere)
Fabrication: 45 nm, 32 nm
IS: X86, X86-64, MMX, SSE 4.2
Socket: LGA 1156
Bus: Direct Media Interface
RAM: DDR3
Chipset Support: P55, H55, H57, Q57
Intel Core i5 (cont..)
Two types
1. Dual Core (similar to Core i3)
II. Quad Core (Much Closer to Core i7)
DualCore Core i5 :
Architecture : Clarkdale (Westmere)
Fabrication : 32nm
Sockets : LGA 1156
BUS : DMI
Dual Core i5 (cont..)
Clock Speeds : 3.2 to 3.6 GHz.
Cache : 2x256 KB L2 and 4MB L3
Has Integrated Graphics Processor
Include Turbo Boost.
Supports Hyper Threading.
Quad Core i5
Architecture : Lynnfield (Nehalem)
Fabrication : 45nm
Socket : LGA 1156
BUS : DMI
Two Processors with Clock Speeds of 2.4 and 2.66 GHz.
Cache : 4x256 KB L2 and 8MB L3
Supports Turbo Boost.
Don’t support Hyper Threading and have No Integrated Graphics Processor.
Intel Core i7
Codenamed: Bloomfield (Nehalem)
Fabrication: 45 nm
Instruction set: X86, X86-64, MMX, SSE
4.2
Socket: LGA 1366
Bus: Quick Path Interconnect
RAM: DDR3
Chipset Support: X58
Intel Core i7 (cont..)
They offer the Best Performance.
Cache : 4x256 KB L2 and 8MB L3
They support Turbo Boost and Hyper
Threading(8 virtual cores)
Don’t have an Integrated Graphics
Processor.

Performance : Besides being multi-core, Hyper Threading technology combined with the Turbo Boost makes i3, i5 and i7 to be computing power houses.
For gaming, core i7 processors win hands due to their phenomenal processing power.
Even Core i5’s are good enough but if you want raw power then its good to go for i7.
Core i7 is much faster due to the QPI , Hyper Threading and Turbo Boost.
Cost :
Core i3 are priced at $133 only while Core i5 are priced at $176 to $256 and Core i7 are priced in the range $200 to $1000.
Which is better for whom?
If you are into an entry level system its good to go for core i3 line. It’s great for home use desktop computers too.
Core i5 line is ideal for the business user or home users, who are into normal gaming.
If you want your system to be almost like a server with super computing power at your finger tips go for i7 (Best processor yet on the earth).
Note : Choose that suits your budget and computing requirements.
Conclusion
Intel core i3, i5 and core i7 are the best
series of processors yet in the present
market.
Intel core i7 is the Best processor ever
on the earth as of now.
Intel sustains its value and dominated the
market coming up with this successful
series of Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7.
