GREAT BRITAIN

LONDON
The capital of England is LONDON. It is
crowded with people from different
nationalities. It is crazy!
THE LONDON EYE
Also known as the Millennium Wheel, the London Eye is one of the largest Ferrys wheels in Europe. It is 135
metres high and from there you can see all
London.
BUCKINGHAM PALACE
This is the official residence of the British monarch,
Queen Elizabeth II. Everybody goes there to see the change of
guard.
PICCADILLY CIRCUS
It is a famous road junction built in 1819
to connect Regent Street with the major
shopping street of Piccadilly.
TRAFALGAR SQUARE
Trafalgar Square is a square in the heart of
London. Nelson's column is in the
middle surrounded by four lions.
WESTMINSTER ABBEY
This is a large, mainly Gothic church in
Westminster, London. British monarchs are crowned and buried
here.
THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT
The Palace of Westminster is the seat of the two
houses of the Parliament – the House of Lords
and the House of Commons. It lies on the north bank of the river
Thames.
THE BIG BEN
This is the nickname for the great bell of the
clock at the north end of the Palace of
Westminster and extended to the clock and the clock tower. It
celebrated its 150th anniversary in May
2009.
COVENT GARDEN
Covent Garden is a district in London
dominated by shopping, street performers and
entertainment facilities.
THE BRITISH MUSEUM
This is a museum of human history and
culture which houses the world's largest collection of Egyptian antiquities. You should go and see
the mummies there!
ST. PAUL’S CATHEDRAL
St. Paul is an Anglican Cathedral situated on the highest point of the city of London. It is the seat
of the Bishop of London.
HARRODS
Harrods is one of the largest department stores
in the world. It was established in 1834 and nowadays it is owned by
the Fayed brothers.
