I am proud of my grandfather!

• All my family likes sports thanks to my grandfather – Valery Ivanovich Melnikov.

• When he was 14 he started to do judo and sambo.

• While his navy service my grandfather was organizing tournaments during long-distance voyages.

Valery Nikolayevich made a lot for the development of judo and sambo in our town. In 1991 he organized sport school in Baltiysk. He trained over 5000 sportsmen! He is a strict coach.

It’s me!

•My grandfather is proud of his pupils. He was very happy when my father – his son – got the 1st junior category in judo.

•Now my father and grandfather are the members of the Sambo and Judo Federation in Kaliningrad. Their pupils became Champions of Russia and Northwestern Federal District. They won more than 25 Cups.

In 1999 Valery Nikolayevich took part in his last tournament. It was Judo Championship in Kaliningrad. Then he won the 3rd place! He was 50 years old. I’m very proud of him!

My grandfather is very strong and active. He took part in our school competitions!

Judo includes clutches and throws. Hard trainings. Sporting schedule. Full gyms. Self-victory. It’s a great holiday!

I attend judo tournaments from my childhood. I hold my grandfather’s hand and understand that I am a part of the competition. Now I choose sport to go in for. But I know exactly that sport will have an important role in my life! Thank you, grandfather!
