HY-DRONE (WAY TO FLY)

Introduction The issue of traffic and transportation is very paramount in our organization now. Therefore we intend to aid in a new way of transportation by bringing in a new concept called “Hy-drone”.

• On its daily way the cars stuck in traffic jams, meanwhile the car produces about 2.5tones of toxic CO2 every year.

• Look at the personal aspect because we all are wasting lot of time in traffic every day. The same traffic jam which steals our precious time.

Soon it will be like this

Life is too short for traffic.&

So the question is:

• How we could solve this big issue?• How we could reduce the traffic?• Is there any other way?• How we could save our precious time , that we

are wasting on roads?

That’s why I come up with this idea.

• The concept is that, use the hydrogen balloon for lifting some weight at an altitude of 50-100m and to control its position from ground using the principle of drone which works on solar energy. The solar cells would charge the battery about 0.5 volts each time it landed.

So we have to find a new way.

Scope and objectives• Fly as cheap as possible• Utilization of Solar Energy• Ensure productive use of

supplements• Minimise long term costs• Ensure better returns

Social RelevanceOur project aims is to combine three

technologies and to implement a new product for :

• Easier & cheaper way of transportation.• Economic & Eco-friendly flight.• Faster way of transportation.

Overall Approach Including Methodology

Basic Formula Utilised: > Hydrogen gas has a "lifting power"

of about 26.80 grams per mole. > That is Hydrogen gas would can lift

about 1.20 grams per Liter (@ STP).

Hydrogen spaceship Hydrogen gas would have a lifting power of about 1.20 grams per Liter (@ STP).

A 20" diameter sphere has a volume of,

4/3 * pi * r^3, with r being the radius,

volume = 4/3 * pi (10")^3

volume = 4189 cubic inches.

1 in^3 = 0.016387 Liters,

4189 in^3 = about 68.65 Liters.

HY-Drone : This is how it worksWe are using the principle of drones to control the direction and height. Drones are basically remote-controlled robots that can do all sorts of fun things, from zooming along the ground, flying high into the sky and hovering in the air with a built in camera. But here we are planning to design a drone which works on solar energy, and which can control the flying balloon. (HY-DRONE)

Connection of solar panelWe keep everything as light as possible. The frame is carbon, the solar cells rest on thermocol sheets. Each wing has 5 solar panels (7.2 volt / 100 Miliamp) arranged in parallel (7.2 volt / 500 Miliamp total). We hook 2 pair of wings in series (14.4 volt) then connected each pair in parallel (1000 Miliamp).

Solar panel to Battery

• And also we will connect the solar array in parallel to the battery so it could assist with the amps needed, then charge the battery a bit while sitting on the ground while we made adjustments. It would charge the battery about 0.5 volts each time it landed (it sat in the sun about 15min)

• We will place a Diode to the end of the circuit to prevent the battery from feeding the solar array

Project Plan

Our project plan is such that it contains 4 phases.1: Obtaining the components2: Components assembly and designing3: Testing and solving defects.4: Launching the product

workspace

Solving the defects

Testing and solving defects is the main part of this project. Here we have to test the working of each and every components and have to solve all those defects that we have figured it out. Also new improvements are made if required.

Testing

Launching

(Surely it will be a challenge to get the aero to work in all flight conditions, but that's what engineering is all about)

Financial estimate• Quad copter: approx- RS 14900- Frame- BLDC motor- 2 pairs of propellers- ESC- Lipo battery- Controller board- Transmitter• Hydrogen tube : RS 500• Hydrogen Gas : 2000• Solar panel : 4999• TOTAL COST : approx RS 22,000
