How to Install A Pop-n-Lock system on F-150 SVT Raptor

By: Jacques DuBois

Tools Used:1. T-27 Screw Driver2. T-40 Ratchet Torx Bit3. 10mm socket4. Razor blade5. Small fish tape or grabber stick6. Soldering iron7. Wire cutters

Step One: Remove the Access cover (used T-27 Screw Driver)

Step Two: Remove the tailgate step pole (used T-40 Ratchet Torx Driver Bit)

Step Three: Remove tailgate back and put to the side

Step Four: Remove the tailgate step (used T-40 Ratchet Torx Driver Bit) This has to be done to make clearance for getting the actuator in the tailgate. (See next pics for tips and more detail)

Do Not Remove

Remove T-40

Remove T-40

Do not remove the step all the way as the tailgate is spring loaded and will try to close. Just slide out and let hang like the pic.

Step Five: Remove the marked 10mm nut and install actuator. See next few slides for details and tips.

Add a thick washer to help clear the black plastic lever.

The actuator needs to be secured here for constant operations. Before I did this, it would jam up now and then. I don’t have a picture, but I wedged foam between outside of the tailgate and the actuator, and Ty-wrapped to the above support

There is a channel that runs right

here. See next pic for better view

Step Six: Run the tailgate wiring harness(the short one)

Tip: Run the wire from the spare tire out to the tailgate. A fish tape will work but I prefer a grabber rod.

Tip: Once run secure the wires with Ty-wraps and tap-back anchors.(Blue to Blue & Green to Brown.

Step Seven: Reinstall the tail gate step.

Actuator wires (tailgate side)

Run and secure to this harness towards the passenger side.

This is outside the frame rail on the passenger side.

Connect the long harness and route as the following pictures depict.

Ignore the small black wires for my bedrail LED lights that I installed at the same time.

This is back inside the frame rail on the passenger side at the very back of the truck.

This is a good point to pull the wire out and put right back in to continue down the frame

This is outside of the frame rail where the bed and cab meet.

Remove the trim on the rear passenger door and find the grommet towards the back of the truck.

Reinstall the trim and move to the front door.

Find the Blue w\Green strip wire. Strip back and solder the Blue wire to it.

Find one of the Grey w\orange strip wires(there is more then one and they’re all common). Strip back and solder the Brown wire to it.

Tip: Disconnect battery before this step

Using 3M 33+ Vinyl electrical tape, tape up joints and stuff back in the tray. Reconnect the battery and test. Reinstall all the trim.

Tip: I hooked up the wiring and tested before I closed up the tailgate and ran the wire through the frame. Used a set up alligator clips

Reverse the steps and put the tailgate back together.
