How to locate info and share with Ushahidi

Create your workspace
• You will need a number of browser tabs and online tools:
• Twitter app/website, twitter search space, blog search
• Translation Tool (Google Translate, Yahoo Babel fish, other)
• Mapping Tool (OpenStreet Map, Google maps)
• Ushahidi Report page (varies by crisis). (eg. http://www.allianceguinea.org/ushahidi/reports/submit)
• Wikipedia (to search towns, cities, countries etc.)
Key Tasks
• Look for common search terms, hashtags
• Set up alerts, twitter columns or browser tabs to monitor for information
• Analyze the content for relevance
• Add report to Ushahidi
There will be many tweets, blog posts etc.
This is time consuming to review/analyze and choose.
There will be key info that might be important to someone.
What Should I Report?
• Information collected can be classified according to the existing codes

How to Add an Ushahidi Report
• Open the Ushahidi report page: . http://www.allianceguinea.org/ushahidi/reports/submit
• Add all the content you have collected:
• Report title (use keywords like location and category/type of report)
• Description (add in English and a the local language)
• Categories/define tag
• Your contact info (this is optional, but might help)
• Geo code info: Longitude and latitude. (open street map, google map or even wikipedia will have this)
• Add the link of the tweet, news source, picture, video etc.
